FAQ

INITIAL CONTACT QUESTIONS

PhotovoiceKit is a complete, web-based toolkit for carrying out photovoice projects. Users are guided through the entire photovoice process, from the introduction of photovoice, through discovering the power and ethics of photography and photography skills, to carrying out community awareness events and strategies for taking action. PhotovoiceKit features interactive lessons that engage the learner for enhanced attention and retention, and provides downloadable documents, customizable templates, and illustrations. PhotovoiceKit also provides a platform for storing, organizing, and sharing your group’s photos, as well as for communication between group members and leaders throughout the photovoice project.
A school group can make a great team for a PhotovoiceKit project. The site provides resources for group facilitators to use with their groups, including various lessons and a toolkit of helpful documents. We anticipate groups can use the site for month, semester, or yearlong efforts.
There are many online fundraising platforms available, such as donorschoose.org (available to public school teachers) or gofundme.com that can help you raise money to pay for supplies. Try reaching out to members of your community that might be interested in or influenced by your photovoice project.
Unlike other websites, PhotovoiceKit provides a sequential and straightforward learning platform for teaching your photovoice team about the photovoice process as well as tools to manage the logistics of carrying out a photovoice project. Some of the capacities of PhotovoiceKit include the opportunity to post and comment on photos of the group, manage photo release forms and set up and share digital galleries. Expanded efforts to reach other photovoice teams working in their communities provides a great way to learn, share, and motivate the global community of photovoice Change Agents!
